BROCATO GEORGE E. Age 72, a lifelong Oakmont resident passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018. Beloved Husband for 53 years of Lorraine (Adams) Brocato; loving father of Amy (Jason) Mastrocesare, Becky Brocato, and the late Nick Brocato; grandfather of Michael Siemianowski, Tyler Mastrocesare, Jeffrey Houston, Eric Murrell, Andrew DeChantal, and the late Emily Houston; brother of Jack (Janet) Brocato; and also survived by nieces and nephews. George was a graduate of Oakmont High School class of 1964 where he played football for the late Chuck Wagner. He was an Oakmont Volunteer firefighter for 37 years, serving as chief for 15 years immediately following his Father after he had served as the chief of the fire department. He enjoyed antique and classic cars, and was a lover of Gettysburg. McMANAMA STEVEN B. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 29, 1933 as Bernard James McManama died from a progression of Alzheimer's Disease on April 16, 2018 in San Juan Capistrano, CA. Steve, is preceded in death by his beloved wife Eyvonne and brother James. He is survived by his sister Carol Van Horn; brothers Thomas (Mary) and Patrick; nieces Kelly Wiechman, Kathy Dunn, Karen DePasquale, “Mickey” Stein and Maureen Higgins; and nephews Mike McManama, Paul McManama and Tim McManama. Steve, then known as ‘Bernie,' graduated from Langley High School in Pittsburgh in 1951. After high school, Steve entered the Air Force and was stationed for two years in Japan. Upon discharge, Steve settled in Southern California where he spent the rest of his adult life pursuing a career in higher education. Steve attended Long Beach State and earned his BA in 1960 and MS degree in 1965 in conjunction with his teaching and counseling credentials. He eventually earned his PhD in Behavioral Science from California Western University in 1975, and was appointed Associate Dean; he remained affiliated with the university until he retired. Steve loved music and art his whole life. Steve could always be counted on for guitar and guitaronne performances at any gathering of friends. RAUTNER REV. WILLIAM F. "BILL" Age 81, of Asbury Heights, Mt. Lebanon, PA, called home to his Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2018. He was the son of William and Esther Rautner, and was born on February 9, 1937 in Pittsburgh, PA. On December 20, 1958, he married Nancy Ann Bosely, in Tacy, WV; they were married almost 60 years. Devoted father of James Rautner of Sterling, VA, Stephen Rautner of Belington, WV and the late David Allan Rautner; brother of Barbara Rautner of Pittsburgh. Bill graduated from Baldwin High School, after which he worked for Gulf Oil and Allied Electric Supply. Called to ministry, he served a circuit of six Methodist churches in WV while he attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. He then served Franklin Street United Methodist church as assistant pastor. While attending Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, he was pastor of Deer Park United Methodist Church in Reisterstown, MD. Following ordination, he joined the Western PA United Methodist Conference, as pastor at Central Highlands UMC. During his career in ministry, he also served Trinity UMC in Trafford, PA, New Wilmington UMC, Riverview UMC in Beaver Falls, Grace United Methodist Church in Albion, and Madison UMC. Bill was a gifted preacher, a dedicated pastor committed to visitation of the sick and elderly, and a dynamic minister who worked continually to grow the churches he served. He and Nancy retired in 2000 to Little River, SC, where they attended Trinity United Methodist Church, and where Bill led worship services on occasion. CORNELL WILLIAM FRANK (BILL) "BLUE Age 80, of Glenshaw, PA., passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 16, 2018, with his family by his side. Bill was born on April 30, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA. Bill was preceded in death by his loving sister, Wilma Anastassopoulos; his parents, Marie Hummel and Ralph Huff Cornell and his wife, Margaret A. Cornell. Bill enjoyed spending time at his camp, “Trails End” in Tionesta, PA. He loved hunting with his friends, between Thanksgiving and Christmas. He was a fisherman, an avid NRA member, and always offering to help his friends and family when it came to fixing things. Above all else, he loved his family and his hunting buddies. Left to cherish his memory are his dear friend, Joan Goncar; his three children, Cassandra M. Gillen, Kimberly C. Cornell, and William F. Cornell, Jr.; a granddaughter, Heather M. RYAN BOB E. Age 95, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018. He was the beloved husband of 71 years to the former Mary C. Karl, who survives. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Jan Ryan (David Fisher), Jo Ann Gladstone (Paul) and Roberta Schwalm (Tim); four grandchildren, Amy Jonasson (Erik), Kevin Gladstone, and Jacob and Megan Schwalm. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one grandson, Jesse Fisher; and his sister, Jayne Carroll. Bob retired from the former Koppers Company, Inc. after 45 years in a variety of research and development activities. He was an avid photographer, struggling golfer, and erstwhile scuba diver. LANG HOWARD W. "BUD", JR. Age 92, recent resident of Beatty Pointe, Monroeville, formerly of Wintersprings, FL and Penn Hills, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Harriett (Cobler) Lang for 33 years; loving father of Richard (Cherie) Lang, Tom (Linda) Lang, and Carol (Doug) Klein; devoted grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of 11; dear brother of Betty Rusch and the late Irene Eckenrode. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Howard is predeceased by his parents, Howard W. and Majorie Lang, Sr. Bud served in WWII with the US Navy, serving on U.S.S. Brown in the Pacific. He was a member of the Turtle Creek Masonic Lodge for over 60 years, longtime member of The First United Presbyterian Church in Turtle Creek, where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon and an Elder. Bud was also a charter member of Willow Creek P.C.A. in Wintersprings, FL. Bud retired from Westinghouse after 41 years as an electrical engineer. Bud enjoyed playing bridge, was a Pirates and Steelers fan, but his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. HURLEY MARY ELIZABETH (SPENCER) Age 96, of Cheswick, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 17, 2018.  She was born July 2, 1922; the daughter of the late John and Susan Bissett Spencer and was a longtime resident of the community. Mrs. Hurley belonged to St. Alphonsus Church in Springdale. She enjoyed watching sports and spending time with her family and the joy of her life was her 16 grandchildren. Surviving her are her loving children, sons, Patrick (Lynn) Hurley, Timothy (Patricia) Hurley, Dennis (Sally) Hurley; daughters, Rosemary (Robert) Irwin, Maureen Anderson, Jeannine (David) McCutcheon; grandchildren, Corey, Cody (Lynda) and Casey Irwin, Shannon and Brian Hurley, Ryan, Shea and Devin Anderson, Spencer, Collin, Breanne and Molly Hurley, Ian, Brogan, Marina and Elena McCutcheon and one soon to be great-grandchild. MUELLER ROBERT J. Age 98, of Glenshaw,  passed peacefully into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ on August 17, 2018. Loving husband of Marie Catherine (Williams) for 66 years of blissful marriage, and a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh. He was born in Bellevue, PA, as the 3rd of 11 children of William  and Kathryn (Hattman).  Robert served as Technical Sergeant in the 5th Army in WWII, serving in North Africa and Italy. In addition to his wife Marie, Robert is survived by a sister, Patty LaSlavic; his seven sons, Robert Stephen (Karen), Michael Joseph, Daniel Francis (Carolyn), Paul Alexander (Patricia), James Edward (Christina), Lawrence Andrew (Stephanie), Gregory William (Stephanie); along with 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  Robert will be missed greatly by all of them as he was a true spiritual patriarch of his family. THOMPSON SAM A true warrior has transcended, of Pittsburgh Homewood Section. Sam Thompson was the longest serving President of Primary Care Health Services Inc., (PCHS) which operates health centers in 10 locations throughout Allegheny County, including the Alma Illery Medical Center in the city's Homewood Brushton neighborhood and served as an officer of that Board since for 41 Years (1977). Sam always worked for the betterment of the community as the Project Director of the Pittsburgh Coalition Against Substance Abuse (PCASA) for 10 years and worked with various organizations throughout his life including Operation Better Block, the Urban Redevelopment Authority, and Addison Behavior Care Inc. Sam was a graduate of Westinghouse High School (1969) where he played football and was a member of the Marching Band. He attended College at Robert Morris University. Survived by loving wife, Dawna; stepchildren, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. LAGROTTERIA PAUL RAYMOND Age 83, of Penn Hills. Passed away August 17, 2018. Preceded in death by his mother, Concetta; and father, Louis; sisters, Jenny Manella and Lena Talotta; brothers-in-law, Anthony Talotta and Tony Greco; survived by brother, Joe (Sharon); sisters, Jay (Bob) Veri, Tina Greco, and brother-in-law, Tony Manella; sons, Greg (Beth), Paul (Jane) and Jeffrey (Shelly); and grandchildren Alexa, Jeffrey and Nina and many nieces and nephews as well as many close friends. Originally from East Liberty, where he developed may lifelong friends and enjoyed spending time at the Kingsley House where he taught weight lifting and body building.  Later moved to Penn Hills where his interest in construction led him to develop various properties including two apartment buildings. Paul attended Westinghouse High School and continued his education, receiving a Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.  He later went on to receive his Professional Engineering license. He started his career with Westinghouse Electric working for the Electro-Mechanical division. Then went to work for Pittsburgh Coke and Chemical Company which after numerous corporate name changes became Calgon Carbon, where he retired as a purchasing manager. He was one of the founding members of the Pittsburgh Chemical Association, and in 1975 was named General Chairman.  In 2013 he was honored for his years of service. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, working in his garden and weekends at Conneaut Lake with family and friends. Family and Friends received Monday 2-4 and 6-9 p.m., at CHARLES W. PETERSON KATHRYN (KEMMLER) Of Sewickley, PA, Formerly of Tulsa, OK passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 91 years of age. Kathryn, the daughter of the late Byron and Muriel Kemmler, was born on December 3, 1926 in Tulsa OK. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother with a keen wit and a distinctive sense of humor. She was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed bowling, gardening, and cooking. Kathryn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Clayton S. Peterson, in 2011. She is survived by her two daughters: Donna (Lance) Leipold of Hot Springs Village, AR and Diane (Richard) Bolea of Moon Township, PA; and three granddaughters: Laura and Shannon Leipold, and Natalie Bolea. Friends will be received on Monday, from 4-7 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MOON TWP., 1522 Coraopolis Hts.
