McDEVITT HANNAH E. (GOODRUM) Age 90, of Clairton, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 22, 2015. She was born Oct. 23, 1924, in West Mifflin, to the late James and Britha (Andrews) Goodrum. She was the beloved wife of 64 years of Lawrence F. McDevitt, who passed away Jan. 16, 2014. She was cared for and is survived by her loving daughter, Vickie McDevitt, of Clairton; sister, Jean Hudson, of Shalimar, FL; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by sister, Mary DaBaldo; and brothers, James and Arnold Goodrum. Her sister, Viola Edwards, of Sewickley, passed recently on May 23, 2015. She retired from Kmart-Crafton Ingram as the restaurant manager and previously worked at W.T. Grant Company. She enjoyed spending time in Tionesta, her daily walks throughout the neighborhood and trips to the casino. She was a member of Lebanon Presbyterian Church in West Mifflin. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. Sixth St., Clairton, PA 15025. PAGE RICHARD On May 23, 2015, music lost one of its truest voices. Richard Page was principal bass clarinet of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 2014, joining the orchestra under the music directorship of Andre Previn. His sound and his musical intelligence were known and admired by musicians across the world. Born on May 26, 1948, Dick was a native Pittsburgher and graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, where he studied clarinet with Louis Paul. As deep as his love of music was, it could not touch his love for his grandchildren, Ethan, Elly and Evan, who changed his life. It was a great gift to him to be a stepfather to Leah Hagemann, Jill Martin and Sherree Hall, and he felt blessed to be part of the Martin family, where he is survived by sisters, Donna Martin and Mary Ross, and Rita Martin and Gayle Fierst. He was predeceased by their parents, Jean and Ed Martin. For 32 years he was a devoted husband to Sue Martin, the polestar of his life. Plans for a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. HAMMETT REV. EDWARD S. The Rev. Edward S. Hammett, age 85, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2015, in Somerset, PA after a long illness. In his final days, he was uplifted by the many members of the Somerset community who came to visit him, some even bringing him his famous "Grandpa" candy which he had so readily handed out for years wherever he went. Born on August 2, 1929, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of Dr. James M. and Mary Hunter Hammett. On August 30, 1952, he married Virginia Bashforth, a blessed union of nearly 60 years until her passing in December, 2011. On May 25, 2013, he married Claragail Winklevoss, the widow of his life-long friend, Donald Winklevoss. Rev. Hammett was a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College, Washington, PA. After serving in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War, he was employed in the business office of Bethlehem Steel Company until he was called to the Lord's service as a minister with the United Methodist Church. A graduate of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, he held a master of divinity degree. He was licensed to preach in 1960 and fully ordained in 1964. Rev. Hammett began his ministry as a pastor at churches in Coulter and Lowber. After his ordination, he served United Methodist Churches in McKeesport, Harrison City, Uniontown, Fairview, McMurray, Charleroi, and Davidson/Scenery Hill. After retiring, he served as visiting pastor for the Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. He and Virginia cherished the friendships made in each of the churches he served. Surviving, besides his wife, Claragail, are his four children and their spouses, Karen and David Dempsey, Mount Lebanon, Edward and Dorothy Hammett, Granby, CT, Kimberly and Robert Farrell, Lee Center, NY, and Elizabeth and Harold Elkins, Huntsville, AL; 13 grandchildren, Erin (Steve) Heirendt, Kevin (Ashley) Lensie, Heather Farrell, Emily (Devin) Durham, Robert Farrell III, Justin Hammett, Stephanie (Josh) Remling, Jonathon Elkins, Shannon Farrell, Jacob Elkins, Abigail Elkins, Sarah Elkins, and Isaac Elkins; seven great-grandchildren, Caden and Kylee Lensie, Blake Elkins, Mia Remling, and Katlyn, Luke and Hanna Heirendt; a brother, James (Ruth) Hammett; and a sister-in-law, Lois (Duane) Davis; and several nieces and nephews. QUAGLIA VICTOR T., SR. Age 88, longtime Monroeville resident, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2015, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of 61 years to the late Margaret O. (Kovacs) Quaglia; loving father of Ronald (former daughter- in-law, Gillian) Quaglia, Daniel (Cathy) Quaglia, and Victor T. (Durelle) Quaglia, Jr.; proud grandfather of Nathan, Nicola, Nicholas, Matthew, Lydia, and Andrea; dear brother of Joanna (the late Hewitt) Eirhart and Robert (Alfie) Quaglia; and brother-in-law of Louise Bingaman. Victor was a WWII wounded combat veteran, serving with the Sixth Marine Division on Okinawa, where he received a Purple Heart. He worked for many years as a registered master plumber with R.W. Mills before becoming a general maintenance employee for Westinghouse AESD in Large, PA, from which he retired. VOGEL SISTER ROSE MARIE, CSJ (Sister Mary Ronald), age 78, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, in the 61st year of her religious life as a Sister of St. Joseph. The daughter of Erhard and Rose Marie Harlan Vogel, Sister Rose Marie entered the Congregation from St. John Parish, Johnstown, PA. For 26 years Sister ministered in the field of education as principal and teacher in the Pittsburgh, Greensburg, and Altoona Johnstown Dioceses, including six years as principal of St. Joseph School in New Kensington. From 1985-2006 Sister Rose Marie served first as chaplain at Mercy Hospital, and then at Good Samaritan Medical Center and Conemaugh Health System in Johnstown. She continued to volunteer as chaplain at Conemaugh Health System from 2006-2012. In 2003, Sister Rose Marie was presented the Prince Gallitzin Cross by Bishop Joseph Adamec for her service to the Diocesan Church of Altoona Johnstown. After teaching bible studies at Valley Pike Manor in Johnstown for a short period of time, Sister came to the Motherhouse where she continued to care for others through her prayer ministry and briefly as Medical Transport Manager. Sister Rosie was fun loving and had a great sense of humor. Throughout her life, she touched the lives of many through her compassion and generosity. She will be especially remembered for her comforting presence to the sick, the dying and the bereaved. Sr. Rose Marie is survived by a sister, Norene Pozniak of State College, PA; a brother, Ronald (Carole) of Johnstown, PA; nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Baden. Friends will be received Wednesday from 1-8 p.m. and Thursday from 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at the Motherhouse of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Baden. FAZIO FRANK, Jr., Ph.D. Age 80, of Indiana, PA. Beloved husband of 57 years to Beverly Fazio, of Indiana; loving father of Barbara (Marc) Harrold, of Bethel Park and Michael (Lisa) Fazio, of Murrysville; proud grandfather of Daniel (Teresa), Ian (Julie) and Nathan Harrold and Nicholas and KC Fazio; dear brother of RoseMary Fazio and the late Anthony and Serafino "Foge" Fazio; brother-in-law of Elizabeth Fazio and Norma Fazio; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Born May 12, 1935, in Dawmont, WV to Francesco and Rosa Fazio, Frank was raised in Coraopolis. After graduating from Coraopolis High School in 1953, and California State Teachers College in 1956, Frank began his career as a science educator, first at Aliquippa and Hopewell High Schools, then continuing at the college level when he joined the Chemistry Department faculty at IUP in 1970, along the way earning his Ph.D. from University of Pittsburgh. Shortly after retiring in 1996, he was instrumental in starting the AARP Tax-Aide service for seniors in Indiana. He continued in his devoted duties of preparing tax returns and training the volunteers until December 2014. Frank was an active member of St. Thomas More University Parish, Knights of Columbus and the Board of Directors of Aging Services of Indiana County, where he served as president the past three years. HALLER STEFANIE JOY Age 33, of Chicago, IL, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015, peacefully with her devoted and loving husband, Aaron A. Buchner, by her side along with her parents, Robert C. Haller and Susan M. (Roman) Haller. She is survived by her brothers, Charles R. Haller and Nathan R. Haller; and her aunts, Marilyn (Roman) Pfeil, Carol A. Roman, Nancy J. (Haller) FethL and uncle, James R. Haller; and her grandfather, Lawrence "Pap" Haller; along with many cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Jane "Bubba" (Ferguson) Haller and Marion E. (Rimlinger) Roman and Charles R. Roman. Stefanie was a talented dancer and gifted artist, she graduated from the University of Dayton in 2004, with a degree in Graphic Design, and displaying the confidence that was with her throughout her life, moved to New York City alone and determined to succeed. She began her career in the fashion industry working in Manhattan, and quickly became a lead designer in the print advertising department. Always wanting to do more, she left New York in 2007 and moved to Chicago, with her portfolio and confidence in hand. She began working for Blue Cross Blue Shield and her talent for design made her an important addition to the company's design team. Stefanie left Blue Cross in 2013 to pursue another passion, yoga. She became a successful yoga instructor and did free lance art work as well. It was in Chicago that Stefanie met Aaron, the love of her life, they were married in 2014. Stefanie's battle with cancer was very difficult, however her spirits never dimmed. Her and Aaron's circle of friends were wonderful and supportive; Stef's family cannot thank them enough.
