MOORE DANIEL EDMUND Age 90, of Bridgeville, passed away unexpectedly on April 10, 2017, at St. Clair Hospital surrounded by his family. Dan was born on December 31, 1926, in Pittsburgh. He was raised in Bridgeville where he settled and raised his family. Beloved husband of the late Rosemarie Blunkosky Moore; loving father to Catherine (Michael Chiodo), Claire (Robert Caveney MD), Mary Moore Brilmyer, Suzanne (Bob Gray) and Liz Moore Sullivan; cherished Pap “Pa” to Joseph Caveney MD (fiancée Caitlin Wenzke), Ben Brilmyer (Jen), Liz Brilmyer Benney (Michael Anthony), Stephan A. Gray, Christopher D. Gray, Michael J. Gray, Thomas M. Gray. Dan was preceded in life by his parents, John Daniel and Alma Moore; and his sisters, infant Mary Elizabeth, and Catherine Anne Moore (Sister Claire Marie of the Immaculate Heart, Carmelite order). He is survived by his sister, Alma Moore Paholsky and her husband, Tom, and their children, Mary, Tom and Ann. He will be missed by his dear friends, Dr. George Schein and Russ Manski; and a host of many loving friends. Dan served in the United States Navy during which time he was part of the V5 program and attended the University of Pennsylvania Officers Training Program. Following his military service, he began his undergraduate studies at Villanova University. He later returned home and completed these studies at Duquesne University. He received his BS degree in education with majors in mathematics and social services and a Master's degree in educational psychology and was a licensed psychologist. Dan had an exceptional career providing outstanding leadership in the educational community. His career as an educator commenced in 1949 as a math teacher and culminated in the area of special education and psychological testing well into 2013. Dan worked continuously for the betterment of youth and the community. His career was highlighted by his championing of causes for children with physical and mental challenges and special needs. He served as Coordinator of Pupil Personnel for the Mt. Lebanon School District. During his tenure, he dedicated himself to expanding the district's programs to enable special needs children to enter the mainstream classroom. He designed multiple individualized educational programs to meet the learning needs for children and adolescents. Dan was active in establishing Parkway West Technical Institute and served at Pathfinder School for the special needs child, The Robert Boyd Ward Home for the Children and numerous public school districts. He received numerous awards for his contributions in helping challenged students succeed in the public schools. Dan was appointed by the Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Education to serve as one of the first Hearing Officers to assist in decisions concerning the placement for exceptional children. He served as a Director on the Chartiers Valley School District Board for four consecutive terms and was an active member at Holy Child Parish. His greatest joys came from his family and friends, his community, his passion for his grandchildren, and his love of sports and the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame! To Dan, all friends were family! VUKIC MILDRED “MITZI” On Wednesday, April 12, 2017, Mildred "Mitzi" Vukic, left us to be with the Lord. Born to Teodor and Danica Novakovic on October 29, 1932 in Wall, Pennsylvania, the family had six children, Dan, John "Lefty", Charlie, Mitzi, Betty and Martha. All of the children were members of the St. Nicholas Serbian Orthodox Church at one time in their life and many of them sang with the church choir, which was to become Mitzi's musical passion. During the World War II period, many adult choir members were called to serve their country. The Junior Choir had to fill-in during church service throughout the war years. Mitzi was one of the junior choir members pressed into service and she often spoke of those days with pride and honor. Mitzi's great love of music, particularly liturgical music, reflects her steadfast Orthodox Christian faith. She has used her gifts to serve the Lord faithfully for decades as Assistant Director of the St. Nicholas Church Choir and the Director of the Junior Choir. After high school, Mitzi attended Business Training College in Pittsburgh then worked for Westinghouse. In 1955, she married Uros Vukic also of Wall, PA and St. Nicholas Church. They were blessed with three children, Bob, Tom and Denise, Bob and his wife Andrea reside in Cranberry Township. Tom and his wife Patty and two children, (Kelsey and Dane) also reside in Cranberry Township. Daughter Denise and her husband Vladimir and two children, (Nina and Marina) reside in Upper St. Clair. In addition to her three children and four grandchildren, Mitzi is also survived by her two sisters, Betty Novakovich and Martha (John) Rubino; sisters-in-law, Martha Vukich and Barb Novakovich; brother-in-law, Eli (Kim) Vukich; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at ALFIERI FUNERAL HOME, INC., 201 Marguerite Ave., Wilmerding, PA 15148, 412-824-4332 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday with the Pomen at 4:00 p.m. Friday. GREENE JUDY P. Age 76 of Wexford, PA, on Tuesday April 11, 2017. Beloved daughter of the late Henry and Peggy. Survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Richard P. Greene; brother David (Linda); three children who adore her, Andrew Greene (Candy), Allie Greene (Dave Curry), and Alexis Dowling (Nick Behring). She was also an amazing grandmother to four beautiful grandchldren, Wade, Samantha, Alexander and Elizabeth. Judy lived life to the fullest. She worked for an international travel agency for 28 years. Because of this choice of career, she was an avid traveler. Her department was the South Pacific, which was her passion. She spent prolonged periods of time in New Zealand and Australia. Part of her heart is in New Zealand. She met amazing people who were enamored with her, as was everyone who encountered her. Judy was also very involved in the arts. She has been doing community theater for 47 years. Judy had the flare for the dramatic, so this was right up her alley. She could do comedy, drama or any role they would throw her way. Judy was passionate about many things; travel, cooking, exercise and reading. But, she was the most passionate about her family. She made sure her family was together for every celebration and brought so much joy to every get together. Judy made every holiday not just an event, but a tradition that will carry on with all of her family. Judy loved the role of being a grandma and her grandkids are the biggest part of her legacy. Visitation will be on Monday, April 17, 2017 and Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the GEORGE A. FELMLEY DAVID GEORGE Of Penn Hills, born December 9, 1934, passed away April, 12, 2017. A great father and a friend to many, passed away peacefully after holding off cancer for 17 years. Preceded in death by spouse of 40 years Donna Jean, 1942 to 2003. Survived by two sons, Gregory and Thomas (Annette Merlino) Felmley; and one granddaughter, Leia; brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Edie Dull; and their children; as well as other nephews, nieces and cousins. David worked for 37 years for Westinghouse Electric Company, and was a regular attendee of the Westinghouse Trades Apprentice Alumni Association's dinners, as he started there as a teenager. After Westinghouse, he and Donna opened Attic Antiques, a small shop in Delmont, PA. A devoted hobbyist, collecting antiques and toy trains over more than fifty years, David was pleased to share his hobby with many friends in various associations. One of the co-authors of a well respected book on Lionel trains, he was often consulted for information or to make repairs in his home machine shop. As a race mechanic, in 1962 his car won the first sanctioned race ever run at the Mid-Ohio race course. Friends received in the WILLIAM F. Marley was an aspiring veterinarian, and overcame multiple learning disabilities while she was in college. She will be remembered as a loving, supportive person with a silly sense of humor and a kind heart. She will rest peacefully with her father. OKOBI OBIDIMMA OLGA IBIMINA “OBI” Age 40, passed away Monday, April 3, 2017, in Baltimore, Maryland. She is the daughter of Dr. Elsie Halliday Okobi, Ph.D of Connecticut, and the late Dr. Anthony Okobi, MD. She is survived by her brothers, Chukwunweze "Chukky" Okobi of Pennsylvania, Olisemeka "Emmy" Okobi of New Jersey, and Anthony Okobi, Jr., MD, PhD of North Carolina; her sister, Ndidi "Didi" Okobi of California; and her sisters-in-law, Natalie Okobi of New Jersey and Ciru Okobi of North Carolina; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, colleagues, children she worked with and their families; and her Abmy (rescue dog). Obi graduated from Miss Porter's School (1994), Wesleyan University (BA, Art and Architectural History, 1998), Southern Connecticut State University (MS, Urban Studies, 2001), The Johns Hopkins University (Certification, Elementary Education, 2004), and Harvard University Graduate School of Education (EdM, School Leadership, 2012). She was principal of City Neighbors Hamilton School, Baltimore City Public Schools, Maryland, and had also worked in various capacities with the Prospect Hill Academy Charter School, MA, The Park School of Baltimore, and Waverly Elementary/Middle School, all in Baltimore; and the Hamden Public Schools in Connecticut. Obi was a source of inspiration and joy to the students, teachers, families and colleagues throughout the Baltimore district and Connecticut. She personified the love of learning, commitment to students, and dedication to the principles of equity and justice that are the hallmark of a great educator. Obi was an active member of many organizations and communities, focusing on arts and culture, children, civil rights and social action, education, health, human rights, poverty alleviation, and social services. She served as a mentor, motivational speaker, outreach coordinator, and girl's lacrosse coach. She was an avid runner, participating in several half-marathons, and was active in sport captaining lacrosse in college and serving as co-captain for lacrosse and field hockey in high school. She was on the board of directors Sheldon Calvary Camp, Conneaut, OH and also on the board of Directors Miss Porter's School, Farmington, CT. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
