CARPENTER DUANE D. Duane Carpenter, age 90, of Brookline, passed away December 20, 2015. WILIAMS CLARENCE, Jr. Age 93, of Ashtabula, OH, passed away December 19, 2015. Born in Chesapeake, OH to Clarence Mitchell Williams and Nina (Moore) Williams, “Junior” Williams, as he was known at the time, was a star athlete at Chesapeake High School, leading his undefeated basketball team to the state finals in 1941. Clarence served in the US Navy during WWII on the Battleship USS Iowa, and was among the first US soldiers to enter Tokyo after the Japanese surrender. After the War, Clarence attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV, graduating with a Civil Engineering degree. Clarence was married to Lorenda Alice (Randi) Leadingham for over 55 years until her passing in 2011. Clarence had a distinguished career as a Professional Engineer, working for Westinghouse Electric at the Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA and the Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, OH. Clarence is survived by his son, Clarence Jeffrey Williams of Pierpont, OH; daughter, Dalphna Jean Donnelly of Lexington, KY; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lloyd, Laurence and Buster; sisters, Minnie, Pearl and Pauline; his wife, Randi; daughter, Elizabeth Dawn Auge; and grandson, David Auge. A memorial service will be held at noon on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at the H.K. Leadingham Family Cemetery, located on Doc Leadingham Road in Webbville, KY. FIBBI EDWARD Age 88, of Carroll Twp., passed on to his heavenly rest on December 22, 2015. Born June 2, 1927, in Woodlawn, PA (now Aliquippa), Ed was the son of the late John and Mary Oberly Fibbi of Aliquippa. Loving husband of Joanne (Zahorsky) Fibbi. They were married on July 31, 1954, in West Aliquippa, and were blessed with 61 years of life, love and devotion to each other. Ed was the solid foundation and gentle heart of his extended family, and took great joy in the love and closeness that has lasted through the generations. Cherished father of John Edward (Jackie) Fibbi of Carroll Twp., Joanne Fibbi of Upper St. Clair, James Edward Fibbi of Carroll Twp., and Kenneth Edward (Michelle) Fibbi of Upper St. Clair; caring and generous Grandpap/Gramps to Angela (Joel) Walsh of Monongahela, and Christopher (Sarah) Fibbi of Jefferson Hills; adoring Pap Pap to Rachel, Matthew, Kayla and Ethan Fibbi of Upper St. Clair; and special Great-Grandpap to Natalie and Miles Walsh. Ed was the much loved brother-in-law of Veronica Zahorsky Panizza of Ambridge and Michael (Karen) Zahorsky of Ambridge. He is also survived by a brother, William (Nancy) Fibbi of Loudon, TN, Godson Michael (Michelle) Vedro of Aliquippa; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephew. Ed graduated from Aliquippa High School in 1945, and was soon drafted into service during WWII. He attended Officers Candidate School, obtaining the rank of Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at the age of 18. Ed served in 88th Infantry Division, 313th Engineer Combat Battalion of the Army Corps of Engineers in Trieste, Italy. Ed began his business career as a self-employed, residential building contractor in 1949. As a skilled designer, bricklayer and carpenter, Ed built homes in the Sheffield Terrace neighborhood of Aliquippa. He also constructed area businesses, among them, Deceder's Bakery, The Flamingo, Zahorsky's Hardware, Dr. Eger's and Miller and Sons Chevrolet. He was a precise and master craftsman, and shared his talents helping friends and family design, build, remodel and renovate their homes. He was a truly loyal, generous and giving man to all fortunate enough to call him friend. Ed pursued his college education by attending night school while working full time. He attended California State College and received his Master's from the University of Pittsburgh in 1972. His educational career began as a woodshop teacher at Aliquippa Junior High School in 1960. He went on to teach Industrial Arts at Hopewell Junior High School until 1968, when he was hired as the first Executive Director of the Mon Valley Vo-Tech School (Career and Technology Center) in Speers, PA. His leadership at Mon Valley lasted from 1968, beginning with the planning stages for the school, through building construction, staffing and curriculum development, until his retirement in 1992. Ed always took pride in his role as unofficial tour guide for school visitors. And, he especially enjoyed visiting the classrooms to surprise students with his array of masonry and carpentry skills. He spent over two decades dedicated to the education of thousands of students from six area school districts. Since his retirement in 1992, Ed was a devoted advisor to his children and grandchildren helping them navigate the pathways of life. Ed was the epitome of a hard worker, a shining example of kindness and generosity, and a creative problem solver. He passed his incomparable work ethic and strong moral character on to his children. He never stopped teaching, advising and supporting those dearest to him. As a former member, officer and president of the Charleroi Rotary Club, Ed was an enthusiastic organizer of their annual flea markets, and a leader in the club's participation in Charleroi's Halloween parades. Ed also served as Vice President of the First Catholic Union (FCSU) Branch 587 from 1970 to 2012. He was recognized as the FCSU's Top Producer of Annuity Sales of 2014 at their national convention. Ed was a life member of Iota Lambda Sigma fraternity of Industrial Arts Teachers and a life member of PAVA, Pennsylvania Association of Vocational Administrators (currently PACTA, Pennsylvania Association of Career and Technical Administrators.) He and wife, Joanne, have been parishioners at Transfiguration Church (now St. Damien's) in Monongahela since 1969. SCHELL BARRY G. After a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) Barry passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 22, 2015. Barry was born on August 11, 1940, to the late Arabella Artis Keenan. At age three he was adopted and lovingly raised by the late Frank and Margaret Schell. He is survived by the great love of his life (his wife of 54 years), Dolores Obermeier Schell; and his children, Paul, Barry, Jr., Frank, Joyce Douglas and her husband, Marty; brother, Sam Keenan; and brother-in-law, Walter Obermeier; Barry is also survived by six cherished grandchildren, Kathryn, Frank II, Christine, Michael, Barry III and Leah. After graduating from North Hill High School in 1959, Barry proudly served his country as a United States Marine. His journey then took him back to North Hills School District as an electrician where he was promoted to Director of Building and Grounds. After 33 years he retired only to be rehired as a consultant for an additional two years, overseeing the renovation of Martorelli Stadium. Loved by many, Barry was not only generous and caring to his family but also to all who knew him. Barry believed his West View community was "God's Country." He was proud to not only build his own home within its boundaries but to also volunteer his time and effort in various capacities. In 1972, Barry joined and remained a member of West View Fire Department and served in different capacities throughout his life including Fire Marshal for 21 years and president for 22 years. In 1978 Barry became one of the original board members of Ross/West View EMSA and once again served in various roles for 21 years including president. In 1999 he was elected to West View Borough Council where he served in various leadership positions including president for the past six years. In addition, Barry was the borough electrician and enthusiastically participated in volunteer roles for numerous local celebrations and other needs of the community. To his family he will be best remembered for his laughter and his uncanny ability to know when to teach, when to praise and yes, when to "Lecture." To his community he will forever be remembered as "Mr. Fix-it" as well as one of the nicest, kindest, and most helpful guys one could meet. His family would like to express their profound gratitude to the West View community for renaming Bronx Field to Barry G. Schell Field. In addition, they are also grateful for everyone who took the time to visit, send a card, or helped in some manner during the past six months.
