
SCHILLINGER WILLIAM C. Age 91, died peacefully on May 30, 2015, on Hilton Head Island with his beloved wife, Bertha of 63 years at his side. Mr. Schillinger was born October 8, 1923, in Pittsburgh, PA. He studied psychology at Duquesne University and was employed by Commonwealth Trust and Union National Banks for 43 years rising to the position of Vice President. He retired in 1985. Bill lived in Upper St. Clair from 1960 to 2009 when he moved to Hilton Head Island on a permanent basis. He was a decorated WWII veteran, having served in the U.S. Army earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was predeceased by his parents, William J. and Agnes M. Schillinger; and sisters, Jeanne Sherry and Rose Brown. Bill is survived by his wife, Bertha J.; sons, William J. (Susan), Howard A. (Peggy), and John V. (Lori); and a daughter, Jeanne T. Lias (Allen); nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Joanne Schaub (David); and a cousin, Kim Schillinger. His family was always his greatest treasure. Bill was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend to many. He will be missed. A private burial in the Veteran's Garden at Six Oaks Cemetery in Sea Pines Plantation was held on May 31, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wreaths Across America in care of Six Oaks Cemetery, 175 Greenwood Drive, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928.
