RICO LOUIS ANTHONY Age 80, of Penn Hills, died Monday, April 27, 2015. He was born June 23, 1934, in Pittsburgh. Prior to retirement, he was an employee of United States Steel. Louis was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. Having served in the U.S. Army with the 6th Infantry Division, Louis was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6681. A loving father and grandfather, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Mulvihill) Rico; brothers, Genre Pecora and Vincent James Pecora; and sisters, Constance (Pecora) Suarez, Theresa (Pecora) Marvenko, and LaVerne (Rico) Fabiano. He is survived by sons, Anthony (Francine) Rico, and Vincent Rico; grandchildren, Louis, Allison, Anna, and James Rico; sisters, Mary (Rico) Jankovic and Ann (Pecora) Kachuta; brother, John Rico; and numerous nieces and nephews. A lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, PA, she spent the last three and a half years living in Greensboro, NC, where she died peacefully on April 27, 2015. She received her R.N. from Homestead Hospital Nursing School and married the late Raymond C. Tomarelli M.D. in 1942. She is survived by her five children, Henry Tomarelli (Martha), Lynne Underwood, Arlene Giglio, Denise Shack (Tim) and Raymond Tomarelli, Jr.; and her 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. STITT Dr. WILLIAM F. Age 79, of Ft. Myers, FL (formerly of Upper St. Clair, PA) passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 26, 2015. Born and raised in Dormont, Bill was the son of the late James and Lavina Stitt; and husband to the late Joan (Blandford) Stitt. He was the loving father of James (PJ Vladuchick) and William Jr. (Kimberly); he was Pop Stitt to Jimmy, Breanna and Billy; and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. After graduating from Washington & Jefferson College, and then University of Pittsburgh Dental School, Bill served as a Naval Dental Officer in Pensacola, FL, before returning to PA, and serving the South Hills communities' dental needs for nearly 40 years. He was an accomplished Theater Organist (as well as guitar, harmonica, accordion and mandolin) despite not being able to read music. He was active in several Theater Organ Societies. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at 11:00 a.m., at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL, where he will be interred alongside his wife. COOK MARIAN WEAVER Age 79, of Aspinwall, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Beloved mother of Steven Lang Cook of Aspinwall and Margaret Carrie King of Aspinwall; cherished companion of Dr. Robert McDonald of Oakland; loving grandmother to Daniel, Brian, Jessica, Callan, Max, and Mia; dear sister of Samuel H. (late Helen) Weaver of Harrisonburg, VA, Nancy (John) Evans of Cambridge, England and Nina (Klaus) Wedell of Longtown, England; beloved close relative of Christine (Drew) Martier of O'Hara Township; cousin of Bill (Pat) Kempe of Dallas, Texas, and Gene (Madge) Terhune of Odessa, Texas. Marian Carrie Weaver, born in Norman, Oklahoma on December 20, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Findley and Adela Weaver. She attended the Channing School in London, England and the American School in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She received her BA Degree in Liberal Arts from Penn State in 1957, and her Teaching Certificate and MS in Education at the University of Pittsburgh. Her career as a teacher started in Pittsburgh Public Schools, then as a first grade teacher for fourteen years at St. Edmund's Academy in Squirrel Hill. She worked several years on American Military base schools overseas. Returning to Pittsburgh in 1995, she supervised student teachers at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Education before she retired. Marian was active in numerous community activities including the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation as a tour guide and educator. She was a Spanish interpreter and advocate for Latin-American immigrants. She was an active member of Church of the Redeemer and enjoyed her Scottish Heritage activities. A talented artist, she excelled in fabric media, costume design, and decorating. BUCKINGHAM ANNE (SUNGAILA) Died on March 24, 2015, at the age of 71. Her parents were Lithuania immigrants and she was born and raised in Philadelphia. She graduated from the University of Michigan and was a preschool teacher at the Shadyside Presbyterian Church Nursery School for over 20 years. Anne was a potter, painter, silk screener and Ukrainian Easter egg maker. She will be remembered for her unique, artistic endeavors. In recent years, she enjoyed participating in the unity of Pittsburgh's and Carnegie Mellon University's OSHER Lifelong Learning Institutes. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She had loved traveling extensively with her husband, Dr. Robert Beverly Buckingham, a Pittsburgh rheumatologist who preceded her in death in December 2006. She is survived by her son, Robert Beverly Buckingham IV and his wife, Lou Buckingham, from Taylors, SC; as well as her daughter, Anne Macrae Buckingham and her husband, Steven Weinreich; and grandson, Charles Weinreich from Waccabuc, NY; and a sister-in-law, Blanche Buckingham Deaderick; and brother-in-law, Michael Deaderick, of Memphis, TN. TAYLOR TERESA ANN “TERRI” Passed in peace April 29, 2015. An award-winning international, investigative, and environmental journalist "with a capital J”, Terri passionately loved her world of human and animal family and friends, peace, environmental activism, research, swimming, gardening, and reading. She was full of life force, and never had a dull or idle moment in her lifelong quest to make the world a more just and healthy place. After graduating from Boston University and Columbia University, Terri established her career first in public radio and at ABC News, covering London, Europe, and the Middle East. Terri later returned to her hometown of Pittsburgh, where she made a mark as a general and investigative reporter at KDKA-TV and won an Emmy award for her investigative series on the mysterious crash of a US military flight - Arrow Air Flight 1285 in Gander, Newfoundland. She reported for and contributed to many of the finest international and local media outlets, including WQED-TV. Terri's memory will be held and cherished by her father, Dr. Paul Taylor; her brothers, Paul, Jr., Jonathan; her sister, Kirsten; her nephews, her many cousins, and her devoted friends. A memorial service in Terri's beloved Frick Park is being planned for the near future. Contributions in Terri's memory may be made to Family Hospice, Philanthropy Department. Terri would want those who knew and loved her to celebrate her life by taking a walk in nature, especially with a dog or cat, or by drinking a fine wine, eating a remarkable cheese, or standing up for justice and dignity. PAVLIS DOLORES “DOLLY” IRENE (MARKHAM) She always saw the good in everyone. Dolores “Dolly” Irene (Markham) Pavlis passed away on January 20, 2015, Bradenton, Florida, after a brief illness. She was visiting her oldest daughter, Diane Pavlis Raible and her son-in-law, Mark. Dolores' husband, Ed, preceded her in death six years ago. Other relatives of Dolly who are no longer living are her father; mother, Sarah Markham; stepfather, Sam Rubino; brother, Hayward Markham; and her sister and best friend, Arlene and Jim Hollis, Ed's best friend. Dolores leaves behind son, Eddie (Sue Pavlis); daughter, Linda; as well as daughter, Diane. Grandchildren of Dolly are Kelly (Chris Howard), Kevin Raible, Meghan (Bryan Pattison), Jesse Pavlis, Katelyn Pavlis, Melanie McGrew (Joe Milner) and Mitch McGrew; great-grandchildren are Wesley Pattison, Peyton, Christian, Kathryn and Sydney Howard. Dolores is also survived by her sisters, Doris, Pat, Jane and Ruth Ann. Funeral arrangements were private. Edward and Dolores desired to be cremated and ashes buried together. Dolly was an avid Steelers fan, who was quick to say how much she loved "her" Pittsburgh and "her" Steelers. Her pleasant personality and love of life will be remembered by many. CRAVOTTA CHARLES A., Jr. Age 83, of Lake Anna, Virginia, died Saturday, April 25, 2015, at his home. He was the husband of the late Leona Goldberg Cravotta, whom he married April 7, 1955. Born February 26, 1932, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was a son of the late Dr. Charles A. and Emma Bolay Cravotta. Upon graduating from Swissvale High School in 1950, he attended the University of Pittsburgh where he received a bachelor's degree in vertebrate zoology as an ROTC Cadet. Commissioned in 1954 as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, he completed graduate studies in physiology at the School of Aviation Medicine, Gunter AFB, AL. After 20 years of active duty, including stations in Montgomery, AL, Tyndall AFB, FL, Las Vegas, NV, Beale AFB, California, and U-Tapao Thailand, with frequent TDY to Kadena AFB Okinawa, he retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 1974. Notable service included the development and testing of pressure suits and associated life support systems used for high altitude, supersonic flight by Central Intelligence Agency and USAF pilots of the A-12 and SR-71 “Blackbirds,” chronicled by the Roadrunners Internationale, of which he was a member. From 1974-85, he lived in the Washington D.C. area where he was a senior analyst, space systems engineer at the CIA in Langley, VA. After retiring to Lake Anna, he established two part-time businesses, Charlie's Custom Golf and Lake Anna Tax Service. He is survived by a daughter, Lynda Martin of Lake Anna; two sons, Dr. Charles A. Cravotta III of Bethel, PA, and Michael W. Cravotta, of Virginia Beach; four grandchildren, Katelyn and Liesel Martin, Charles A. Cravotta IV, and Caneel Cravotta; and a brother, Rev. Warren Cravotta of Duncansville, PA. Cremation has taken place at COVENANT FUNERAL SERVICE, in Fredericksburg, VA. A celebration of life in honor of Mr. Cravotta will be held at Lake Anna at a later date.
