PAULINE R. MAHONEY Age 94, of Ross Township, passed peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2019, at Vincentian Home. Pauline was the beloved wife of 66 years to the late John (Jack) P. Mahoney; devoted mother of Kathy (Rich) Collins and Charleen (Tim) Miller; loving "Grammy" to Christy Jenness, Julie (Justin) Bongiorni, Mary Beth (Nick) Rhodes, Nathan, Natalie, and Noelle Miller; and dear "Great Grammy" to Drew and Sydney Jenness, Anthony Bongiorni, and Gabby and Willow Rhodes. Pauline was a long time member of St. Teresa of Avila where she was a member of the Christian mothers. Her family would like to thank the staff at Vincentian Home. DOROTHY ANN (McLAUGHLIN) MERVOSH Age 54, of Harrison City, died on Monday, December 9, 2019, at Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. She was born on October 24, 1965, in Endicott, NY, to William F. and the late Dorothy (Burns) McLaughlin, of Endicott. Dottie enjoyed beach vacations, lighthouses, and water skiing. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and loved cooking, flowers, the changes of the seasons in Pittsburgh, and celebrating the holidays. Dottie is survived by her loving husband of 24 years, Peter Mervosh; her four beloved children to whom she was fiercely devoted, Claire, of Highland Park, and Sean, Katherine, and Michael Mervosh, all of Harrison City; three brothers and a sister, Alexander (wife Jennifer) McLaughlin, William (wife Alice) McLaughlin, Joseph McLaughlin, and Mary Ann (husband Jonathan) Albrecht; her mother-in-law, Glenna (late husband Peter) Mervosh; sister-in-law, Kristin (husband Edward) Melville of Orlando; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. ALVIN M. BODEK, M.D. On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Dormont and White Oak, born on December 22, 1928. Beloved husband of Gloria Silberblatt Bodek and the late Elaine Barkowitz Bodek; father of Michael Bodek of Pittsburgh and Richard Bodeck, PhD. (Amy) of Charleston, SC.; stepfather of Henry Silberblatt of Sun Lakes, AZ, Jay Silberblatt, Esq., of Pittsburgh and Jeffrey Silberblatt of Atlanta, GA, grandpa of Benjamin Bodek and Zachary Bodek, step-grandfather of Alec Silberblatt and Zoe Silberblatt. Dr. Al graduated from Dormont High School in 1946, University of Pittsburgh 1950 and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine 1954. He served his internship at Montefiore Hospital in 1954-55, then served in the US Army Medical Corps as a Captain and commanding officer of the Headquarters Medical Detachment of the 1st Cavalry Division in Tokyo, Japan in 1955-57. Dr. Bodek practiced Family Medicine in the Duquesne-West Mifflin area from 1957 to 2003. He was a Charter Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and a Charter Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He was a member of the Allegheny County Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Medical Society. He was on the Emeritus Staffs of UPMC McKeesport and UPMC Braddock. He volunteered in Israel with the Volunteers for Israel in 2005 and the Catholic Charities Free Health Care Center from 2002 to 2008. He was a volunteer at the main branch of the Carnegie Free Library. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, Shriner and a member of MENSA and Intertel. Graveside Services and Interment will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Temple Sinai Memorial Park. DENNIS A. EBERZ, M.D. Age 72, of Mt. Lebanon, born December 5, 1947, the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Eberz, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019, surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Franci (Mary Frances); son, Patrick Eberz; and daughter, Janie Albright (Zach). Dennis, a graduate of Wheeling Jesuit University and the University of Pittsburgh Medical School, was a well-respected cardiologist who practiced at Mercy Hospital for many years. He was a devoted doctor and was loved by his patients. Dennis was a huge fan of Pittsburgh's professional sports teams as well as a huge Pitt fan. STEPHEN JOSEPH DiGAUDIO Age 74, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2019 in Monroeville, PA surrounded by family and close friends. Born on May 10, 1945 in Quantico, VA, Steve was raised in Brooklyn, NY by parents, Frank and Anne (Strouse) DiGaudio. He was a 1967 graduate of Manhattan College, and retired as an instructor with ITT Technical Institute in Monroeville, PA. Steve dedicated his career to electrical engineering and computer science, including work with Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, PA; General Electric in Cincinnati, OH and Pittsfield, MA; and as the owner of Mentor Computer in Pittsfield, MA. Steve had a passion for experiencing new things, and enjoyed a lifetime of exposing his family and friends to things and experiences that sparked interest and excitement. Throughout his life, he pursued a variety of interests, from theater, art, camping, dance, and sports, amongst many others. He also believed heavily in volunteerism, including his own work as a paramedic, search and rescue professional, and supporting various non-profit groups throughout the greater Pittsburgh area and elsewhere throughout his life. Steve is survived by his wife, Anna (Butler) DiGaudio of Greensburg, PA; beloved father of Adam DiGaudio and Rachel (DiGaudio) Stonecpyher; father-in-law of Ian Stonecypher and Christina (Kassab) DiGaudio; proud and loving grandfather of Avery, Wyatt, and Josephine; and his partner and friend, Tim Peckham of Monroeville, PA. He was preceded in death by his older brother, John and younger brother, Chris, and survived by his brothers, Frank and Tom, and sisters, Pat and Anna. Arrangements for a celebration of life are being planned for early January 2020. DR. HARRY K. GILLESPIE Retired pediatrician, age 94 of Irwin, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2019. Loving father of seven children, Mary Ellen (Joseph) Ferragonio, James (Ana) Gillespie, David (Rose Mary) Gillespie, Charlotte (Charles) Fisher, Sarah (Eugene) Pile, Elizabeth (David) Haushalter, and Douglas (Heidi) Gillespie. Caring grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle to numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their families. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Troy and cousin, Lucy (Joe) Russell. In addition to his wife, Eleanor, Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Loretta, and siblings, Richard, Philip, Jr., and Susan Mormon. A graduate of Central Catholic High School, a U.S. Navy veteran, and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Dr. Gillespie was a longtime practicing pediatrician in Irwin and White Oak as well as at Jeannette and McKeesport hospitals, touching the lives of many patients and families over the length of his career. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin, where he cantered mass and served as a member of the choir for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #1480 Greensburg. Dr. Gillespie was ahead of his time when it came to enjoying the great outdoors, recycling, and doing his part in taking care of Mother Earth. He will be fondly remembered for his kindness, his steadfast faith, his gentle demeanor, maintaining an active lifestyle, and his ever-present sense of humor. To celebrate the life of Dr. Gillespie, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church, 308 Second St., Irwin. He was born in McKeesport on September 19, 1941 and is the son of the late Harry James and Edna Samantha Littleton Wardropper. He was retired from the U.S. Navy serving his country for over 21 years. He then was employed at GE Apparatus Plant in West Mifflin until retirement. He was a member of Port Vue United Methodist Church and enjoyed travelling, especially to his place in Palm Beach Shores, Florida. He is survived by his sister, Veronica (the late Colin) Hemus of Belle Vernon; brothers, James (Norma) Wardropper of Dravosburg, Byron (Bethany) Wardropper of North Huntingdon; sister-in-law, Linda (wife of the late Gerald Wardropper) of Elizabeth; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother, Gerald. Husband of Monica Whisner; loving father of Nataly and Abigail Whisner; loving brother of Robert (Anne Marie) Whisner, Vaughn (Kellie) Whisner, Sheila (Richard) Harris. He is also survived by nephews, Justin, Adam, Jacob; and great-niece, Melody. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Robert Whisner, Sr. and Barbara Ann Zischkau; and brother, Carl Douglas Whisner. He went on multiple mission trips, and he was instrumental with designing through the earth communication for the mining industry. MILDRED M. STINNER Age 90, of Robinson Township, PA, passed on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Born in West Mifflin in 1929, Mildred was a resident of Robinson Township for 69 years and was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Loving wife of 71 years to the late Paul A. Stinner; cherished mother of Dr. Theresa (Daniel) Carroll, Patricia (Jeffrey) Deardorff, Dr. Deborah (Dr. Leonard) Ferrington, Cynthia Slayback, Nebraska State Senator John (Rita), Dr. Charles (Lainie), and the late Paul A. Stinner,Jr.; also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alquin Rogers, Paul A. Stinner, Jr., and grandchildren, David Carroll and Colton Slayback. A selfless and dedicated public servant, Mrs. Stinner founded the Robinson Township Historical Society and was its first president. She also founded the local Robinson Township Girl Scouts troop and the Robinson Girls Softball League. In recognition of her service to her beloved community, "Millie's Way," a Robinson Township street, was named in her honor and dedicated in 2014. Millie loved music and played in her brother's country and western band in the 1940s. She worked for many years managing the cafeterias at both the former South Side Catholic School and St. Justin Plaza Nursing Home. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of feeling her love and compassion. Family and friends will gather on on Friday, December 13, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at PITTSBURGH CREMATION AND FUNERAL CARE, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. ANTHONY J. VASSELO, JR. Passed away peacefully on Nov. 19, 2019, after a long battle with heart disease. He was better known as TJ, born in Pittsburgh Dec. 2, 1954. He retired a year ago from Vertiv. He was proceeded in death by his grandmother, Irene Dix, who he loved dearly. He is survived by his mother, D.M. Dix (Dixie) Pittsburgh, PA; wife of 38 years, Kriss, Westerville, OH; children, Tony (Robyne), Joey (Katlyn), Mt. JOSEPHINE E. MICHAUX-SMITH Age 69, of Penn Hills, on Tuesday, December 10, 2019. Beloved wife of James A. Michaux-Smith; loving mother of Stephen (Diana) Michaux-Smith and Lisa (Walter Matuszak) Michaux-Smith; grandmother of Ivy Michaux-Smith; sister of Margaret Conte, Jessica McKinley, Jennifer Michaux, Joseph Michaux, Aimee Bergamasco, Robert Michaux, Richard Michaux, Candace Williams, Germaine Wells, Peter McCormick, Kate McCormick, Dennis McCormick and the late Susan Bametzreider and Francis Michaux; also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father, Joseph E. Michaux; mother, Helen (Ambler); and stepmother, Marjorie (McCormick). Josie was a 1968 graduate from Sacred Heart High School and 1971 graduate of West Penn Hospital of Nursing. She retired after a 40 year nursing career.
