GREENSLADE FRANK ALAN Of Murrysville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 11, 2018, his 82nd birthday. He was the son of the late Frank and Gladys Hill Greenslade, of Sharpsville, PA, originally from Wales. He was the beloved husband of Catherine R. for 58 years, and the father of Gary Alan (Joan), Karen E. and Kevin K. (Minnie) Greenslade. Alan retired after 32 years as a psychologist and administrator of the Penn Hills School District. Then he served for ten years as a special psychological consultant to the Woodland Hills School District. Alan was a graduate of Westminster College and West Virginia University. He has made his home in Murrysville for more than 40 years. His favorite times were those he spent with his cherished grandchildren, Andrew Alan, Jessie, Sam and Jordan, and with longtime and dear friends and colleagues. His favorite places were beside any ocean, and his favorite exercise was walking his aptly-named German shepherd, Rebel. GABER DENIS R. Age 79, of Houston, PA passed away peacefully August 14, 2018, in Townview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Canonsburg. He was born on May 26, 1939, in Canonsburg to Raymond and Mary “Marie” Goldbach Gaber who preceded him in death. On May 28, 1960, he married Janet Logsdon who survives. They recently celebrated 58 years of marriage. Denis was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh. He worked as a Civil Engineer at Rust Engineering Company of Pittsburgh for ten years. Denis then served as President for 23 years at Ray Gaber Company of Pittsburgh, a Watch & Jewelry Supply Company. Denis' favorite place was on any golf course with his many family and friends. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his beloved family, sons, Chris Gaber (Susan Salyards), of Sewickley, Eric Gaber (Celeste), of McCandless and Mark Gaber (Kerry) of Vienna, Virginia; granddaughters, Eliza and Rachel Gaber; a sister, Mary Jo (Gaber) Hensler of Upper St. Clair; and many nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, in-laws, and out-laws. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, August 16, 2018, SALANDRA FUNERAL AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., Joseph P. DERMER DALE MEYER Age 83, of Richmond, VA / Pittsburgh, PA died on Monday, August 13, 2018, in Richmond, VA. Ms. Dermer was preceded in death by her parents, H. Mitchell Meyer and Celia L. Meyer; her sister, Shirley Meyer, and her former husband of 30-plus years, Zigmund L. Dermer. Dale was born in Richmond, VA on May 29, 1935. Dale graduated from Richmond's Thomas Jefferson High School in 1953. She attended Pembroke College in Providence, RI where she met and fell in love with Zig. They were married on June 18, 1955 and started their lives together in Pittsburgh, PA where Zig had a position with Westinghouse Electric Corporation. Dale continued working toward her degree while having five children from 1956 to 1966. Dale received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh in 1975. Dale began playing duplicate bridge in the early 1970's and was closing in on becoming a triple life master with over 8,500 points. Among her many accolades in contract bridge, Dale won the North American National Women's Pairs Championship in 1985 for which then Pittsburgh Mayor Richard S. Caliguiri declared April 27, 1985 as DALE DERMER DAY in the City of Pittsburgh. Dale moved back to Richmond in early 1988 to help care for her ailing parents. Dale is survived by five children, her sons, Richard Dermer of Seattle, WA, David Dermer of Vallejo, CA and Michael Dermer of Glen Allen, VA; and daughters, Susan Lindsay of Mechanicsville, VA and Francine Porter of New Kent, VA; five grandchildren, Lisa Dermer, Allison Erickson, Tyler Lindsay, Ryan Lindsay and Christina Lindsay; and three great-grandchildren twins, Miles and Theo Dermer-Nuñez and Jordan Erickson. Daughter of the late Louis and Gazia (Ambrosia) Cook; beloved wife of James Butterini (deceased); loving mother of Jan (Dick) Deaner, Joyce (Jim) Musone, and Jeanne (Barry) Link; grandma of Jason (Kathy) Rumburg, Ben (Hillary) Rumburg, Chris (Joy, fiancee) Fields, Tara Primiero, Tyler Dowiak, Alana Dowiak; grandmama of Noah, James, and Brennan Rumburg, Gavin and Kaden Rumburg, Cory and Sabrina Primiero; sister of Grace Kocjan and Margaret Hanna; sister-in-law of Dorothy Cook. One of 12 children, Adeline was raised learning the importance of love and family. The Cook children watched out for each other and that closeness, that love of family, continued throughout her life. The simple routines of daily living brought Adel the most joy...caring for her children and family, baking, keeping house, gardening and walking. Her outgoing nature cultivated a large circle of friends. As a resident of Country Meadows Retirement Community, Adeline Louise embraced her new life and participated in almost every event and activity, including fitness, volunteering time to the Humane Society, the homeless, and a local pre-school. Her zest for life and the love she shared touched the hearts of all who came to know her. Adeline was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmama. Although she will be dearly missed by her family and friends, her legacy shall live on in our hearts. There are no words to express our gratitude for the love, care, and the heartfelt concern given to our Mom and our family by the Country Meadows and Hospice staffs. HENRY JUDITH J. (KADYLAK) Age 67 of Beech Hills, Hempfield Township, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Tuesday August 14, 2018 at her home after a five year chapter of learning to live with metastatic breast cancer. Judy was born to the children of immigrant grandparents who came to the US through Ellis Island from the CarpathoRusyn region of Eastern Europe, Anna and Andrew Adzima, and Justina and Stephen Kadylak. As a second generation born American citizen, she is a true Baby Boomer, born on Veterans Day 1950 to John and Margaret Kadylak while the Annual Veterans Day Parade marched down Main Street in Mt. Pleasant past Frick Hospital. Her father, a WWII Army veteran who received a purple heart from injuries suffered at the Normandy invasion, said to her mother, ?Maybe she?ll be an Army nurse.? He was half right. Judy chose nursing as her career. Judy graduated from the Presbyterian-University (now UPMC Presbyterian) Hospital School of Nursing in 1971 and went on to further her education with Baccalaureate and Masters Degrees in nursing from La Roche College. Her career included wonderful opportunities to work and travel the world with world reknown Pediatric researchers based in Pittsburgh at Children?s Hospital of Pittsburgh (now UPMC Children?s Hospital) in the fields of Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Medical Genetics, and clinical research trials spanning a career of 45 years. She was a founding member and former Board member of the Pediatric Endocrinology Nursing Society, a member of International Society of Nurses in Genetics, a member of the International Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau, The Presbyterian-University Nursing Alumnae Association, and a Board Member of the Kane Foundation, Allegheny County. She was preceded in death by her father, John Kadylak, Sr. in 1978, and an infant sister Marilyn Jeanne in 1953. She is survived by her devoted husband of 35 years, Edward C. Henry, III, a true Renaissance man, her beloved mother and safe haven, Margaret Adzima Kadylak, 2 sisters: Patricia and husband Richard Bohinc of Cary, NC and their daughter Jillian and granddaughter Kaylee Bohinc; and sister, Debra Huck and husband Donald of Sanford NC, and their children: Nathan and Amanda Stairs of Apex NC and children Adileigh and Grady; Jenna and Joshua Simmons of Winston-Salem NC and their children Jax and Crosby; and Summer and Andrew Clark of Concord NC and their children Sydney and Zachary; a brother, John Kadylak, Jr. and wife Sandra of Latrobe and their children: Justi and Bryan Shaffer of East Petersburg, PA and their children Lila, Lukas, and Bennett, and Jessica and Trevor Leonard of Philadelphia and their son Lido; a sister-in-law Suzanne Henry Goldsmith of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, her godmother, Frances Kadylak of Harrison City, a paternal aunt Elizabeth Kadylak of North Olmstead, OH, godson Jon Klejka of Kecksburg, and devoted cousins: Maryann Kuruce, Michael Zizan, Michael Kadylak, Ron Kadylak, Teresa Rinehart, Stephen Kadylak, David Kadylak, Janet Fallot, Chris Kadylak, Janet Straub, Carol Hunten, Barbara Oyer, Kenny Kiely, and Leonard Bender, Gary Bender, John Bender, Tom Bender, and Stephen Bender. The Old World values brought from Eastern Europe with her grandparents were the foundation of her life ? God and family first. She celebrated all the unique ethnic traditions they brought with them, especially at Easter and Christmas. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family and friends were most important to her and she treasured many life-long friendships from all chapters of her life. She was a life long member of St. John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Church, Scottdale, PA, a member of their Altar Society, assistant to the priest at his request during transition of revised financial reporting, and was the editor of the church?s commemorative booklet celebrating 100 years of church history. SANFORD KATHLEEN JEAN (AIKEN) Passed away on August 10, 2018 in Burlington, NC. Kathy was born February 29, 1948 in Mars, PA and attended Bowling Green State Univ, where she met Harold Sanford. They married in 1970, eventually settling in Pittsburgh. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1998 and losing Harry to cancer, she really began to find herself; the spunky, adventurous Kathy truly came to life. Even as her MS took more of a toll on her body, she just focused on making her journey as fun as possible. She moved to NC in 2006 to be near her daughters and their growing families, and made countless friends in her adopted state. Kathy is survived by her brother, Rick Aiken and her daughters and their families, Holly Wroblewski, her husband, Brad and grandson Henry, and Annie Toth, her husband Mark and grandsons Jack and Andy. She is predeceased by her husband Harry, and her parents Fred and Evelyn Aiken. She leaves behind caregivers and friends whose lives she touched deeply. Angela Rhoten, her steadfast caregiver, and her daughter Brianna have truly become part of Kathy's family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 17 at 1 p.m., at Elon Community Church, Elon, NC. In lieu of flowers, Kathy wants her friends to celebrate all of life's great things: so sing, dance, party, befriend a stranger, and be kind to someone who isn't expecting it. If you want to do something more tangible, Kathy wants you to give to the Physical Therapy department at Elon Univ, where she has donated her body through the anatomical gift program.
