CAREY DOROTHY (KATCHUR) OF WES...

CAREY DOROTHY (KATCHUR) Of West Mifflin, on Thursday, January 15, 2015, where she was surrounded by the love of her husband and family. She grew up on N. 3rd St., in Duquesne and was preceded in death by her parents, Susan and George Katchur; and her sister, Florence (Katchur) Zuzo. She is survived by the young man from S. 4th St. in Duquesne who became her loving husband of 63 years, Andrew J. “Bud” Carey who is retired from Union Switch and Signal. They have five children who will forever be indebted to their mother for her kindness and love, Deborah (Carey) Stevens and her husband, Hank of Knoxville, TN, Tom and wife, Joyce (Plake) of Peters Twp., Linda (Carey) Stetz of Mars, David and wife, Sue of Plum and Barbara (Carey) Henninger and her husband, Harry of Mt. Washington. Dorothy graduated from Duquesne High School and was an administrative assistant at West Penn Power in downtown Pittsburgh until she left to raise a family. She enjoyed the opportunity to travel with her husband on his business trips to New York City, San Francisco, New Orleans and Toronto and many other great places. Upon his retirement they took a wonderful trip to Hawaii. For more than 20 years “Dot” and “Bud” enjoyed long early morning walks along the beaches of Hilton Head, SC. She also adored her seven grandchildren, Katie Stevens, Ryan Carey, Janel Carey, Caitlin Carey, Amanda (Stetz) Copeland and husband, Ryan, Rachel Stetz and Megan Stetz and she particularly enjoyed teaching her grandchildren about sea turtles and the joys of the beach. Dorothy is also survived by her wonderfully caring brother, George J. Katchur of Irwin; and her sister-in-law, Ann (Carey) Sage of Philadelphia; as well as many caring cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her loving caregivers as well as the caring Medi Home Health Hospice workers and medical personnel who provided support and comfort and made it possible for her to stay at home. Friends received 2-4 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the THOMAS L. NIED FUNERAL HOME, INC., 7441 Washington St. Mass of Christian Burial in the Resurrection Roman Catholic Church, West Mifflin on Monday morning at 10 a.m. with Father Miro officiating. Everyone please meet at the church. Interment in the Calvary Cemetery.
