WEINREB GLORIA (BERGER) Age 90, passed away peacefully in her home in Brookline, MA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA on May 9, 2018. Gloria, fondly known as Goldie, was born in Irshava, Czechoslovakia in 1927 to parents, Samuel and Leah Berger. Goldie lost her immediate family in the Holocaust, but, following the war, she reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, Sam Weinreb, also a survivor, whom she married and began a family within McKeesport, PA. Goldie and Sam celebrated their 68th anniversary this past year. Throughout her life, Goldie was deeply committed to her family and community. In addition to her work as a seamstress, Goldie was an active member of the Tree of Life Synagogue in White Oak, PA; an avid baker, and a devoted mother. She is survived by her husband, Sam; her children, Stewart and Linda; and her granddaughter, Hannah. Throughout her life, Goldie overcame adversity to build a life of purpose and meaning, and taught all who met her about the resilience of the human spirit. She will be remembered for her generosity, her cheesecake, and her compassion.
