MILLER KENNETH ALBERT Age 98, of Hudson, South Dakota, died Sunday, December 25, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Canton, South Dakota. The remains were cremated and a memorial service will be scheduled in the spring. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.comKenneth Albert Miller was born August 24, 1918, in rural Rock Valley, Iowa. Kenneth proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Kenneth was united in marriage with LaVerta Maxine Barker on June 19, 1942, in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple lived in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Lincoln, Nebraska, Madison, Wisconsin, and Hudson, South Dakota during their 57 years of marriage. Kenneth received an A.B (1940) and LL.B (1942) from the University of Nebraska and a J.D. (1957) from the University of Michigan. Kenneth worked until 1975 for the Veterans Administration in Sioux Falls, Pittsburgh, PA, and Lincoln, NE, where he headed the Adjudication Division. He was very involved in community affairs wherever he lived. While in Pittsburgh, he was the president of the Smithfield United Church of Christ, in Lincoln he served on the Parks Department, and in Hudson he helped found the Hudson Community Center. He was a member of the Shriners and the clown unit. Kenneth is survived by his two children, Dr. Kay (Martin) Barrett of Madison, Wisconsin and Dr. Mark (Deborah Robinson) Miller of Oakmont, Pennsylvania; grandson, Bradley (Laura) Robinson; great-grandson, Joaquin Robinson; brother, Merlyn "Mike" (Mary) Miller of Hudson; four nephews, two nieces and their offspring.
