BALZER JOAN S. Joan S. Balzer, 84, of Sewickley passed on Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Born October 30, 1932, in Sewickley, daughter of the late James and Kathryn (Hutchinson) Schlumpf. Beloved wife of the late John F. Balzer; mother of Beth (Jim) Silver of Pittsburgh, Blythe (Scott) Woods of Glen Burnie, MD and Sue (Mike) Figgins of Beaver, PA; grandmother of Mara Silver, Bret and Cara Woods, and Sean, Kathryn, Joey and Kira Figgins; sister of Mary Lou (Bill) Bilo of Murrysville, PA and Nancy (Jerry) Wroblewski. Joan was the owner of Papers N Presents in Somerset, PA, a member of the Sewickley Presbyterian Church and the Sewickley Music Club. Joan enjoyed gardening and was an active community volunteer and patron of the arts. A memorial gathering will be held at COPELAND SEWICKLEY FUNERAL HOME, 702 Beaver Street, 11 a.m. Sat., Jan. 21, 2017.
