PETRONE FRANK V. Age 90, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2013, while under the care of UPMC Passavant Hospital in McCandless Township. Born July 22, 1923 in New Kensington, PA, he was the son of the late Frank A. and Teresina (Cuccaro) Petrone. Mr. Petrone was a 1947 graduate of Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA. He completed his graduate work at the University of Washington in Seattle. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Petrone was a faithful and devoted member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church. He was a lifetime member of the Cranberry Township V.F.W. and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #494 in Zelienople. Mr. Petrone was a former chairman on the Board of Supervisors in Cranberry Township and former chairman on the Cranberry Township Planning Commission. He was a charter member of the Cranberry Township Rotary Club and was instrumental in forming the Sunrise Rotary Club. He was recognized by the Cranberry Township Chamber of Commerce and was awarded 2012 Citizen of the Year. Mr. Petrone was a Paul Harris Fellow and Paul Harris Fellow Benefactor. He was a former chairman of the Producers Council of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Builders Exchange. He is survived by his daughter, Valentina “Tina” Petrone Avery and her husband, Luis, of Bolton, MA; and his grandson, Tucker Petrone Van Aken. In addition to his parents, Mr. Petrone was preceded in death by his brother, Angelo Petrone; and his five sisters, Jennie Mangeri, Mary Ann Parisse, Antionetta McKenna, Carmella Ailo, and Josephine Hochgertel. The Petrone family will welcome friends on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the GLENN - KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 130 Wisconsin Avenue, Cranberry Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013 at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with Fr. John Gallagher, celebrant. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Pinewood Memorial Gardens in Cranberry Township.
