SCANLON JOHN DANIEL PATRICK Age 82, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away on May 11, 2015. He is survived by Mary Scanlon, his wife of 55 years; sister, Catherine Kokos of New Jersey; brother-in-law, Sam Ursini of San Diego; children, Catherine, Paula (Hogenmiller), Peter and Thomas; grandchildren, Sean Luther, Nadine Luther, Morgan Hogenmiller and Connor Scanlon; daughter-in-law, Linda Scanlon; son-in-law, Jerry Hogenmiller; and many nieces and nephews. A private service was to be held, with no viewing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Jubilee Soup Kitchen, 2005 Wyandotte St., Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Though wishing he would have had more experiences on this plane of existence, his family is thankful for the time he devoted to them during a life well lived. As John D. Scanlon wrote in the dissertation that launched his career as a professional thinker: ...the absolute beginning remains actually unachieved, and therefore the question remains open as to whether an absolute beginning is not as remote as an absolute completion, each capable of approximation but each beyond the possibility of full achievement.
